Marley Melchiorre is a Chicago based artist whose practice is rooted in the study of materials and their surfaces. Through assemblage, she creates mixed media works that juxtapose traditional painting and printmaking methods with a variety of scavenged materials including wood, stone, mirror, paper, fabric, and other readymade objects. The resulting works flirt between sculpture and painting, sometimes bordering on installation; they are minimal yet rely deeply on the freedom of expressionism. Marley holds a BFA in Printmaking from the University of Oregon.
